Brazil ↔ United States
Two jurisdictions.
One calendar.
You do not have two accounting problems. You have one, split by a border. Draken handles your company and your taxes in both countries with a team that speaks both tax languages.
A Brazilian accountant with active CRC registration, working with a partner CPA licensed in the United States.
Your deadlines, side by side
2026With their own date, set by the state and by the company formation date: Registered agent renewal, Annual report in your state.
Select a deadline to see who files it and what happens if you miss it.
Subscribe to this calendar
Deadlines land in your own calendar with reminders 30 and 7 days ahead. Works in Google Calendar, Apple and Outlook.
An .ics file with three years of deadlines. Nothing is sent to us: the file goes straight to your calendar.
Reference dates for the ordinary calendar. Extensions and special regimes move these deadlines, which is precisely why someone has to track them.
The two calendars do not line up. The IRS closes the 1040 on 15 April while Receita Federal is still taking the DIRPF into late May. Neither date waits for the other.
Where things break
An accountant who knows one side leaves you exposed on the other
The three cases below come from rules in force, with the penalties those rules set out. It is not a projection: it is what the law says happens.
- US Form 5471
You formed the LLC and nobody mentioned the 5471
Holding an interest in a foreign corporation triggers a reporting duty to the IRS. The penalty starts at USD 10,000 per year per unreported company, and it does not depend on the company having made a profit.
- BR Exit filing
You moved abroad and stayed a Brazilian tax resident
Without the Communication and Declaration of Definitive Departure, Receita Federal still treats you as a resident. Your worldwide income stays taxable in Brazil, on top of the US tax you already pay.
- BR+US Foreign credit
Two accountants who never spoke to each other
Each firm closes its own year correctly and, together, they produce double taxation on the same income. Neither is wrong in isolation. The mistake lives in the gap between them.

Situations
What reaches us
-
An accountant in Brazil, a CPA in the United States, and tax paid twice on the same revenue. Each is right within their own country. Nobody looks at both sides on the same spreadsheet.
It is the first calculation we run in the diagnosis.
-
Left Brazil years ago and finds out now that the exit filing was never made. To the Brazilian tax authority the residency never ended, and income earned abroad stays taxable there.
Year-by-year clean-up, with the cost stated before we start.
-
The US company was set up through an online form, with nobody asking where the owner is a tax resident. Form 5472 was never filed, and the penalty for that starts at USD 25,000 a year.
A survey of what has been open since incorporation.

Frequently asked
What people ask before hiring
Do I still have to file in Brazil if I already live in the United States?
It depends entirely on your tax residency, not your address. Until the Communication and the Declaration of Definitive Departure are filed, Receita Federal still considers you a resident and your worldwide income stays taxable in Brazil. Once the departure is properly filed, only Brazilian-source income remains taxable there.
I have a US LLC and live in Brazil. How is that taxed?
A single-member LLC is disregarded for US federal tax purposes, so the result is taxed at the member level. For Receita Federal, profit made available to a Brazilian resident is taxable in Brazil, and you must also report the holding to the central bank above the annual threshold. The correct treatment depends on how the entity was classified at formation, and that is the first thing we review.
Is there a tax treaty between Brazil and the United States?
There is no comprehensive income tax treaty between the two countries. There is reciprocity of treatment recognised by Receita Federal, which allows US tax paid to be offset against Brazilian tax within limits, and there is the Foreign Tax Credit on the US side. Applying that correctly is the difference between paying once and paying twice.
Can you take on prior years that are overdue?
Yes. Bringing back years current is a substantial part of what we do, both late Brazilian returns and US returns and information filings. The diagnosis includes an inventory of what is open and an estimate of exposure before you decide to proceed.
Which languages do you work in?
Portuguese, English and Spanish, with the same team. Official documents are delivered in the language each tax authority requires, together with an explanation in yours.
How much does it cost?
Pricing comes out of the free diagnosis, because it depends on how many jurisdictions you have, how many filings are open and what your monthly volume is. The final figure comes out of the free diagnosis and is agreed in writing before anything is charged, with no mid-year surprises.
