A practice built on top of a border
Draken came out of a problem each side treated as the other side’s problem: Brazilians who build, live or invest between Brazil and the United States and get two incomplete answers.
Most firms own one jurisdiction and treat the other as a detail. The accountant in São Paulo knows Receita Federal. The CPA in Florida knows the IRS. Neither is accountable for what happens between them, and that gap is exactly where double taxation, the forgotten information return and the penalty nobody saw coming all live.
Draken exists to occupy that gap. One team, accountable for both fiscal calendars, both currencies and both authorities. Every client has a named lead who knows the whole case rather than half of it.
We work in Portuguese, English and Spanish because the families and partnerships we serve rarely speak just one. Official documents go out in the language each authority requires, always with an explanation in the client’s own.
How we work
-
Diagnosis before price
No proposal goes out before we understand the structure. Quoting before looking is guessing.
-
Written beats agreed
Scope, timeline and fee go in a document. No surprise charge halfway through the year.
-
A lead with a name
You talk to a person who knows your case, not to a support queue.
-
No generic advice
A tax rule without the facts of your case is content, not advice.
Where we work
We serve Brazil and the United States, with the same team accountable for both tax calendars. Work is remote, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, over WhatsApp, e-mail and video call.
Who is accountable
Two partners and a team of around ten people, one single team responsible for both sides of the border.
-
Gabriela Rocha de Camargo
Partner and lead accountant, Brazil and United States
Partner at Draken and technically accountable for the tax content published on this site. Works on the border between the two tax systems: tax residency, corporate structures across two jurisdictions, and the information returns that arise from holding assets or a company outside the country you live in.
-
Victor Assis Alves
Partner, marketing and technology
Partner at Draken, responsible for marketing and technology. Looks after how the practice presents itself and how it operates: the website, the systems that organise client deadlines and documents, and the way tax content reaches the people who need it.
How it works
From first contact to first close
No boilerplate proposal. The diagnosis comes before the price, because the price depends on what we find.
- Day 0
30-minute diagnosis
We map where you are a tax resident, which entities exist in each country and what has and has not been filed. Free, no commitment.
- Day 1 to 3
Written tax plan
You get a document with your current position, the open risks, what needs to be brought current and what it costs. In plain language.
- Week 1 to 2
Onboarding and catch-up
We take over, organise documentation on both sides, and start with whatever has a deadline or a penalty already running.
- Ongoing
One team, two calendars
Monthly close, deadline alerts ahead of every due date in both countries, and a named lead you know by name.
Next step
Start with the diagnosis
Thirty minutes, at no cost, to map your tax residency, your entities and what is open in both countries. You leave with clarity even if you never hire us.
